Oh! and if you don't know, we sold the house in Shreveport..well, it's a lease-purchase (they put down payment and then lease it for 2yrs. and buy it). We were very blessed by that, especially in this economic time! So, Sunday and Monday night we stayed in a hotel in Bossier City... Jonathan had his last out-processing to do on base Monday. We looked around base Monday and went to see the lake, which was real pretty and made me miss my lake :( Bella didn't really enjoy it, too many scary noises..or not, haha..she was traumatized by all the changes, but is doing better!
Tuesday we left for Midland, TX. It was a pretty long day..10hrs!! Actually, it wasn't that bad though because we were going slow since we are carrying my car on a car trailer behind the truck.
We went around Dallas thank goodness, because that traffic would NOT have been fun...just the traffic we did have to go through was bad enough.
The ride wasn't that bad actually. Bella slept most of the time in the back seat of the truck in her little "house". She was too scared most of the time to use the bathroom, but she went a little :) Yes, I do give Bella bathroom updates because her Mimi & Poppy and Jonathan's parents are all worried about her and her scaredy-cat ways, haha :) So, we've decided that when we get settled, she'll have more rules and learn to be a dog (don't tell Jonathan, but I'll still treat her like a baby, haha).
We saw some real pretty countryside. After Dallas the land went from trees, etc. to little mesquite trees and dirt and grass, but it was still pretty and a new site to see. It went on for forever, and it seemed like we weren't making any progress...but we were!
We saw some real pretty countryside, and I took lots of pictures, but they all sort of look alike since the scenery didn't really change. It was so clear outside, and the clouds were so pretty. Anywho, I'll just post a couple to give you an idea of what we saw all day :)
We finished our trip just after sunset, thank goodness! As we were driving to Midland we saw one of the coolest things I've ever seen...wind mills for wind energy!! It was fields and fields of them for miles and miles and miles...and they are huge once you get up near them. I always see it on T.V., but had never seen them in real life. It's a great spot because it is pretty windy. Can we say "T. Boone Pickins Land", haha.
All in all it was a great first day of traveling. We ended in Midland, TX...Bush Country! The night ended on an interesting note...we stayed at the new Hilton in downtown Midland..if you travel there, I wouldn't recommend it! They had no parking at all; we had to park on the side of the street! The faucets and lights switches were crooked, they played very inappropriate music for dining, and the staff was very unprofessional. But, on the up side, it was a nice bed to sleep in for another big day tomorrow!
